Practice Self-Regulation™️ (PS-R) is all about resilience and optimal development. It is a neuroscience-based and trauma-informed program promoting health and well-being.

PS-R teaches participants to put past trauma in a new light, manage emotions in healthy ways, and take steps toward achieving life goals. This program helps participants to recognize and restructure thoughts, regulate emotions and physiological reactions, and change behavior to achieve desired outcomes. PS-R addresses motivation to decrease problem behavior, manage impulsivity, negotiate, and practice health promoting and harm-free relationships.

Practice Self-Regulation for Sexual Health, our flagship program, supports healthy relationships and safe sex practices. It has been evaluated in two federally-funded randomized controlled studies from 2015 through 2021.

Practice Self-Regulation focuses on the five core components of affect-regulation: thoughts, feelings, and physiological reactions that influence decision-making, which in turn influence behavior and outcomes. The model reflects trauma-informed interventions promoted through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN). All participants are served in accordance with evidence-based best practices, as defined by the American Psychological Association.

Designed to be implemented by a variety of professionals in youth serving organizations to include school personnel, counselors, case managers, direct care staff, juvenile justice personnel, and child welfare service providers. All models are facilitated with access to licensed mental health professionals for consultation or ongoing supervision.
