We are on the verge of becoming a trauma-conscious society.”
—Bessel van der Kolk

Our PS-R team members provide an array services based on five core components of executive functioning.

Executive functions are brain processes that help everyone to manage thoughts, feelings, and actions to achieve a goal. It is a cluster of neurologically-based skills that promote effective decision-making to enhance health and well-being.  Executive functioning involves:

  • Working memory
  • Analysis and synthesis
  • Organization
  • Internal speech
  • Self-regulation

We offer standard PS-R trainings that prepare a wide variety of professionals to facilitate the programs with fidelity to the model. However, we customize most all trainings to best meet the needs of any group or organization wanting to optimize effective neuroscience-based interventions to stop harm, heal pain, and change lives in any designated settings.

Customized Training for Lasting Impact

We develop all training in collaboration with contracting organizations to ensure that all service delivery meets the unique needs and interests of participants. Our focus includes, but is not limited to:

Ensuring Safety

Safety and security provide the foundation for effective participation and learning. All participants are treated with respect, compassion, and consideration for life experiences that may include trauma.

Fostering Resilience

Resilience, which is the ability to bounce back after challenging life experiences, is the ultimate focus for all PS-R services. Developing and practicing effective self-regulation in response to stress alerts is vital for optimizing health.

Encouraging Health

Healthy decision-making can be a challenge in the United States! It requires navigating a range of barriers to good health, such as exposure to unhealthy environments, community violence, ultra-processed foods, work-life balance, and access to effective medical and mental health care.

Stopping Harm

All PS-R services are based on stopping harm, healing pain, and changing lives. PS-R trainers specialize in, and pay close attention to leading-edge research findings that influence effective service delivery.

Taking Good Care of Ourselves

Participants may have personally experienced physical or emotional harm that influences life in a variety of ways.  In addition to learning effective interventions for those we serve, this work takes into consideration participant experiences of moral distress and injury caused by psychological pain from having deeply held values and beliefs violated by a range of human behavior that causes emotional, and possibly physical harm to self and others.

Our training ensures that individuals and organizations not only understand self-regulation but actively model it to create safer, healthier, and more resilient communities.
