The capacity for self-regulation is probably the single most
important contributor to achievement, mental health, and social success. – Lawrence Steinberg, 2014
Practice Self-Regulation™ (PS-R), fosters mindful resilience, and personal growth. Our neuroscience-based, trauma-informed approach empowers individuals to navigate challenges, regulate emotions, and build healthier futures.
Grounded in cutting-edge neuroscience, PS-R teaches participants to put past trauma in a new light, manage emotions in healthy ways, and take steps toward achieving life goals. All Practice Self-Regulation™ programs support healthy relationships and optimal decision-making.
From Trauma to Triumph
Practice Self-Regulation™ (PS-R) helps people to:
- Put challenges and past trauma in a new light
- Manage emotions in healthy ways
- Take meaningful steps toward achieving personal goals
This program helps participants to recognize and change thoughts, regulate emotions and physical reactions, and practice positive behaviors that promote health and well-being.
PS-R is a flexible model that addresses a variety of issues, age groups, and topics that concern everyone throughout life. It can be used with many other approaches to enhance positive development throughout life.
Beginning with children ages 3-8, Everybody Gets Upset Sometimes helps caregivers teach and model basic self-regulation skills for little ones at home, in childcare, pre-school, and early elementary classes.
For older children and teens, PS-R provides a foundation promoting optimal health and well-being through engaging activities and a workbook that helps with learning, memory retention, and impulsivity.
Practice Self-Regulation for Sexual Health promotes healthy relationships and safe sex practices. It was evaluated in two federally-funded randomized controlled studies from 2015 through 2021, with very promising outcomes. Study results are in the Research section of this website.

It was created to promote resilience for both little ones and their care givers who read the book with them.
What users are saying about PSR
“What you learn in school is just the basics. I have much more knowledge now about my body and how to take care of myself. PS-R helped me think about my future and imagine personal dreams that I didn’t have before.”
